Events Diary 2021

NEW YEARS DAY RUN 1st JANUARY 2021 *STOP PRESS*: CANCELLED. With great sadness, we must CANCEL our run.  Chelmsford City Council’s Public Health and Protection Services have confirmed that the present situation with its more stringent rules makes it impossible to go ahead. As a club we  do not want to invite any ire or criticism from anyone. Please stay at home for yours and everyone else’s safety. We wish you a better 2021 and hopefully plenty of runs to make up for those lost in 2020. CONTACT PETER LAWSON BY PHONE OR EMAIL FOR ANY FURTHER ADVICE.

With current Covid restrictions in place we have not made any plans for runs, meetings or events. When the present lockdown ends and we know what further restrictions, if any,  might be in place, we then hope to be in a position to fill in some dates for this year’s diary. Some organisations are taking tentative steps to make plans for the summer and as and when we hear of these we will add them to the site. We are pleased to be able to add the first two such events for July. See below for details.

MARCH 2021

APRIL 2021

Sunday 25th National Drive it Day. Due to the uncertainty of Covid rules in place at the time we are not organising a specific event . However there is nothing to stop you going out in your Austin 7 for a run and showing your historic vehicle to the wider public, which is what Drive-it-Day is all about.

MAY 2021

Wednesday 5th  Suffolk club night at the Greyhound, Ixworth.

Thursday 20th Club night meeting is unfortunately not practical at this time.  That’s the bad news. The good news is that we can all meet a few days later at North Weald Airfield.

Sunday 23rd Our club is invited by the Jaguar Owners Club Area 33 to a car meet at North Weald Airfield, Merlin Way, CM16 6HR. 9am to 2pm. We hope you take this opportunity to meet your old friends and their even older cars. The details following are provided by the Jaguar club.  This meeting will be arranged in accordance with all government COVID-19 guidelines including a minimum 3m spacing between vehicles, facilities on site for handwashing and queue control measures for the toilets and food outlet. Catering will be available from the on-site caterers and offers both hot and cold drinks and food for sale. (I can recommend the coffee). There will be plenty of toilet facilities immediately adjacent to our parking area with facilities separate facilities for men, women .Parking will be with plenty of room to ensure safe distancing between the vehicles and whilst queueing. This event is by invitation only and so will not be advertised to the public, thereby better enabling us to control numbers and distancing and all attendees are requested to observe the guidelines and controls in place. It is necessary that we pay for the use of the airfield and for this reason we are requesting £5 per car. Any surplus funds will be donated to the Essex Air Ambulance that operate from this Airfield and will be present on the day. We hope that this will be a great opportunity for friends to re-unite and enjoy their cars in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.  There is no need to pre book , just turn up on the day . We are parking in a different area to last year and so this time we are parking at the other side of the Airfield by the new The new Revetment Cafe
