Sunday 26th National Drive it Day. Essex and Suffolk members meet up on the borders of our counties for a drive criss-crossing both counties followed by lunch. Thursday 21st Essex Club EVENING meeting at the Old Chelmsfordians from 7pm. We have our first speaker of the year to entertain you this evening. The subject is Richard the Third – Saint or Sinner? An enthralling talk by Joanne Larner who has researched over 250 books on the subject and she presents the questions and mysteries surrounding his character and alleged crimes. Did he usurp the throne? Did he murder his brother(s)? Did he poison his wife to marry his niece? Was he the ruthless tyrant of Shakespeare? Did he murder the ‘Princes in the Tower’? Saturday 13th Panfield Village Fete The organisers would love some of our Austin Sevens to exhibit alongside other vintage and classic cars for their traditional and well supported annual fete. We’ve been asked to become a main attraction too by parading around the central arena accompanied by an historical commentary. The show is open from 12 to 4pm and exhibitors need to be in place at least an hour before. If you are interested in attending please contact Mike Yeulett of the Panfield Fete Committee on 07562 6677945 before the end of March.
Sunday 14th June. Little Waltham Classic Car Show and Open Gardens in aid of Farleigh Hospice. We get a good number of Austin 7s at this show, so if you are a member of the public reading this and are perhaps hankering after owning one, then come along and talk to our members.

Thursday 16th Essex Club Evening meeting 7 to 10pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. We have another entertaining speaker for this evening who will recount stories and amusing anecdotes of his time as a guitarist in the 60s. A talk by David Caulfield “The Semi-Pro Sixties”, on how David started playing the guitar and those formative experiences in the early sixties playing in groups. Based on his book of the same name this talk is packed with funny stories and amusing recollections of those exciting times interspersed with him playing and singing. Don’t forget that we are now BYO (Bring your own bottle, can or whatever). Tea and coffee also available.
Sunday 19th Our club has been invited by the Austin Counties Car Club to join them at Layer Marney Towers on the final day of their Annual Rally. The organisers would love to have our cars on display again and as this is their 90th anniversary they are inviting the Triumph Owners Club too plus other classic cars. A great show for our club as the children always look forward to us giving them rides around the arena.
