January

Wednesday 1st New Years Day Run from Writtle Church (30 miles) and lunch after at the Rose and Crown in Writtle. Meet at 10am, depart 11am. Lunch is at 1pm.

Saturday 11th Workshop Day. Come to learn or teach others at our first workshop of 2025. Start 9.30 – 10am. Not sure what we’ll be tackling yet but something interesting always turns up.

Sunday 12th 10am – 2pm Classics & Interesting Cars Meet. Little Easton Manor CM6 2JN.

Monday 13th Committee Meeting. Please let any committee member know if there is anything you’d like us to discuss.

Tuesday 14th 7pm A7CA meeting via zoom.

Thursday 16th. Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. Noggin and Natter and bring back some memories with a few photos you’ve taken since you joined the club. Let’s also hear and discuss ideas for the year ahead.

Saturday 15th Workshop Day. Start 9.30 to 10am. A member has asked if we can fit and ream new bushes for his front hubs, so that looks like our job this month. As a reminder to newcomers, for the pleasure of enjoying tea, coffee and cakes too, we invite you to make a donation to Farleigh Hospice. The last collection tins have been emptied and Farleigh informed us there was just over £300 raised. Well done guys and gals, keep it up.

Wednesday 7th Suffolk club night. The Greyhound, Ixworth

Thursday 8th Last minute decision to have a short VE Day Parade/Run. Austin Sevens only. Meet White Elms garden centre, Bicknacre about 10.30. Have as many Union Jack flags and bunting on your car as is safe and after a coffee we will drive the 7 miles to Maldon and through the town centre for the pleasure of the public and park somewhere in the Prom car park. Round off with chips and ice-cream on the prom! Contact Peter Lawson for further details.

Thursday 8th VE DAY Event at Hockley Community Centre. One of our members has been asked to take her Austin 7 along, 6.00 to 6.30 pm for VE celebrations and would like other members to join her. A 1940s singer will be entertaining the people and fish and chips will be available. It is planned to light the beacon at 9.30pm.

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th Aldham Olde Time Rally

Saturday 14th Panfield Village Fete. 12 – 4pm. A traditional event with lots of exciting activities where you are invited to bring along your Austin 7 or other vintage car to support the villagers with their annual fete. The Bell Inn, 37 Kynaston Road, Panfield. Braintree. CM7 5AQ. Contact Peter Lawson if you’d like to come along. We are meeting in the Bell Inn car park at 11am to be directed to our positions.

Sunday 15th Classic Vehicle Breakfast Club. Battlesbridge Antiques Centre. Free entry from 9am, access via Muggeridge Farm.

Thursday 19th. Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. Alternative Concours show. With the longest daytime hours of the year this is an opportunity to bring your Austin 7s along for judging. No point in polishing your car to perfection as the winner could be the one with the most rust spots or most oil drips – who knows. NB The winner had the most chips on his wheel rims!

Saturday 21st Workshop Day Fitting new gear selector balls and springs plus anything else that might turn up. Donations to Farleigh Hospice for tea, coffee and cakes.

Sunday 22nd Little Waltham Classic Car Show and Open Gardens in aid of Farleigh Hospice. A great car show and wonderful gardens to visit.

Saturday 28th Ernie Warren Car Collection Ernie and his amazing partner Beryl invite club members once again to see his amazing car collection situated near Bury St Edmunds. Meet 11am for 11.30 and please bring your own picnic. Contact Peter Golding for address and to confirm your attendance prior to the day.

Sunday 29th The 2025 National Austin Seven Rally will take place at Beaulieu. Entry forms will be available on the PWA7C website in Feb/Mar of 2025.

July 2025

It is £10 to enter your car but the proceeds are split between two very worthwhile charities – Fair Havens Hospice and Southend Lifeboat Station. Thursday 10th “Teddy Bear Day” run. Bring your Teddy Bears for a day out. Starting at Little Channels, Back Lane, Little Waltham at 10am leaving 11am for 30 mile run. Thursday 14th North By North West run. A drive close to the Herts/Cambs border and lunch at the Axe and compasses, Arkesdon. Meet at Blake End Craft Centre, Rayne, CM77 6SH for departure by 11am. 34 miles to the pub returning on a different route. (60 mile round trip). Saturday 16th Classic Car show and Summer Fete. Join us at The New Deanery Care home, Deanery Hill. Bocking. CM7 5SR from 11am to 4pm. The day will be jam-packed full of fun, with live music throughout from ‘Rock and Roll Band’, a selection of local stallholders – including Tipsy Bubbles Mobile Bar; An ice cream van, summer games, food and refreshments and a classic cars, bikes and scooters! Sunday 17th Picnic at Pelham Club members are invited once again to come along in their Austins and enjoy the company of members from Norfolk and Suffolk and beyond. Arrive early for bacon rolls, tea and coffee, conversation, camaraderie and games in Bardwell, Suffolk. Sunday 17th LODGE COACHES BUS, COACH AND CAR MEET. ALL PROFITS TO CHARITY. This is Lodge’s biggest car show of the year with a wide variety of vehicles on show from buses to Classic Cars and as this event becomes more and more popular it is necessary to pre-book. This year they have special guests Derek Mathewson and Sheldon Nichols as well as air displays by a Spitfire and a WW1 Bi-plane. Entry is £5. for Cars— £12 for Trade Stands – £3. Public walk in. You can book direct but to ensure we have a reserved area for our Austin Sevens please contact Hazel Clements by 5th August so we can book the space.

We have secured a visit from Emma Airey, head of RH Specialist Insurance to give us an overview about their special relationship with Austin Seven clubs and also focusing on what they can do to help younger people drive our cars. No doubt you’ll have other questions for Emma.

Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th Silverstone Festival

Monday 25th Bank holiday. Countess of Warwick show at Little Easton. Places tend to be limited now so get your names down early for this great country show where we usually have a good number of our cars on show. Contact Peter Lawson or Brian Jenner for your pass.

Sunday 14th CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN FORECAST Return of the very enjoyable and fun Morris (and Austin) Dancing Run organised by members Dave and Linda Kelly. Meet about 11.15am Highlands Drive Maldon CM9 6HX to leave at 11.45am. First stop Old Windmill, South Hanningfield about 12.15. An hour of dancing and drinking, then The Rodney, Little Baddow from about 13.45 for another hour of d&d then the White Horse, Mundon about 15.15 for more d&d. If you’d like a meal at the last pub then menus will be available at the beginning of the day to pre-order, mentioning that you’re on the car tour. Tuesday 16th 7pm. An important extra committee meeting for further discussion of club costs and Chassis.

Thursday 18th. Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. “MEN’S BAKE OFF” . An opportunity for the ladies to judge their menfolk’s baking skills for an evening of fun. The men are invited to make and decorate a cake of their own choosing. A prize for the best tasting and decorated cake, judged by our own ladies as Prue Leith and Mary Berry were booked elsewhere. Afterwards we can all have a slice to eat with a cup of tea for just £1.

Sunday 21st The Essex Classic Vehicle Show will be returning to Lower Castle Park in Colchester from10.30am to 4pm.

Sunday 28th Car and Crafts Event at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, Sawyers Lane Brentwood CM15 9BZ. 10am to 4pm. You are invited to display your vintage or classic car for the Santuary’s very first event of its kind to help support their 600+rescued animals. Free entry for exhibitor’s cars.

Thursday 16th. Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. It’s Model Car Race Night once again. Bring your creations along for launching from our bespoke launch ramp. Specifications published in Chassis.

Sunday 19th Annual Awards Lunch at Weavers Restaurant, Bocking. 12 for 12.30 sit down. Members who received awards last year are reminded to return them soon to Peter Lawson so that engraving for the new winners can be done in time.

November 2025

Sunday 9th Remembrance Day Run. Meet 10 am at Hanging Gardens Nursery, Writtle CM1 3NT for 34 mile run devised by Bill Preston and then lunch at the Horse and Groom, Roxwell Road, CM1 3RU. Contact Peter Lawson or Hazel Clements to reserve a place for lunch.

Thursday 20th. Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. Film Night – Centenary video and more if time allows.

Saturday 22nd Workshop Day. NOTE: A departure from our normal workshop. We will meet at Albert and Hazel’s workshop to remove the engine from Gary’s Pearl. Address is in Chassis magazine. Normal start time. Contact Peter Lawson for any further details.

December 2025

Wednesday 3rd Suffolk club night. The Greyhound, Ixworth.

Tuesday 9th Christmas Run Organised by Debbie and Paul. Meet Cressing Temple Barns at 10.30 or before to leave 10.50 for drive to Perrywoods Garden centre. We have one hour at Perrywoods for a cup of tea and a look around the Christmas display. Depart Perrywoods 12.20. Short drive for meal 12.30 at Pub in Tiptree, which we will book once we have some numbers.  After lunch another drive to Boreham where drivers can then depart for home. Thursday 18th. Christmas Club night, 7pm at the Old Chelmsfordians. This year’s fancy dress theme is Pop Stars for which the ideas are endless. Pop song quizzes with a difference. Fish and chip supper. Details will be in December Chassis.
